  • Delay in diagnosing spina bifida.  The paediatricians failed to recognise the significance of a prominent mark at the base of our client’s spine and failed as a consequence to refer our client for a neurosurgical opinion.  Correct surgery would have resulted in severe injury being avoided.  Damages recovered in excess of £3 million.
  • Delay on the part of a General Practitioner in referring our infant client who had pneumococcal meningitis resulting in avoidable brain injury and profound hearing loss.  Damages recovered in excess of £2 million.
  • Delay in diagnosing and treating viral encephalitis which sadly resulted in a brain injury of such seriousness that led subsequently to the death of our infant client.  Damages recovered in excess of £150,000.
  • Delay in diagnosing appendicitis resulting in ruptured appendix, but good recovery thereafter.  Damages in the region of £10,000.
  • Delay by midwives in hospital in recognising neonatal hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar in a young baby) resulting in an irreversible brain injury.  Liability established.
  • Delay in treating bronchiolitis resulting in brain injury.
