Contraceptive implant failure prompts medical negligence enquiries

Back to News

Medical negligence experts from Moore Blatch Resolve are advising women affected by the failure of contraceptive impant Implanon to contact them regarding compensation claims.

Victoria Hydon,  a partner at Moore Blatch Resolve said that nearly 600 women have become pregnant and more than 1,600 have reported adverse reactions since the implant was launched 11 years ago.

“Figures from the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency suggest large numbers of women have been affected by the failure of these implants and we want these women to know that while the clock cannot be turned back they can potentially receive some form of compensation for their distress and the impact any failure has had on their lives.’’

Ms Hydon said the NHS has already settled a number of cases where the device was not inserted correctly and women became pregnant.

Any women affected by the failure of Implanon which has resulted in pregnancy, or those suffering from side effects can speak to Victoria or another member of the medical negligence team at Moore Blatch Resolve on 0800 158 5258.
